If You Really Knew Me...

In an effort to get to know each other and trust each other, I'd like you to take a little risk and post five things that you'd like other people in the class to know about you. The quirkier/more unique and personal, the better.

Here are my five:
1. I am a terrible sport and throw a fit when I lose--especially when it comes to board and card games.
2. I have a phobia of people throwing up.
3. I like to watch one rerun of "Scrubs" before going to bed because I find it relaxing.
4. Sometimes I'd rather curl up in bed and read a book than go out and socialize. I would have never admitted this in high school because I used to think that it made me a dork. Now I'm automatically a dork because I'm old and a teacher, so I don't really care.
5. I tell everybody that my knee never hurts and that ACL surgery wasn't that big of a deal, but my knee actually hurts everyday. I think I'm scared that it will never go back to normal, and I don't want everyone to think that I'm a whiner.

Your turn!

1. I have a pet peeve about finding hair anywhere. I can always feel loose hair on my arms or spot it where no one else would. If I come up to you and pull a hair off your shirt dont get creeped out because I can't stand loose hair anywhere!
2. I love softball and I play on the Varsity team, which I made as a freshman.
3. I have a phobia of clowns, puppets or manaquins and tape worms. Just don't ask...
4. My freshman year was one of my favorites and I was afraid to come back to school this year because I thought it wouldn't be able to compare.
5. I have 3 younger brothers and 1 younger sister and I am currently watching a fish for my friend who is in college. I love animals!

1. I absolutely LOVE swimming. It was amazing last year, and I did very well in the season!
2. I have an avid fear of failure. I hate letting myself down, and letting my peers or teachers down.
3. I have a VERY low pain tolerance. So, getting my wisdom teeth out? Not good...
4. I was adopted at birth. I met my birth mom, but she died young and I don't remember her.
5. I am very much like Mrs. Leclaire when I play board games. I almost have to win otherwise I get mad. But, I have gotten much better than I was a few years ago.

1. I love to watch horror movies and they are the only genre, besides action, that I really think are worth watching, yet I am afraid of the dark.
2. I despise touching public things like desks, door handles, sinks, and other people's pencils. I'm always disgusted by what people do around those areas, and it's one of my biggest phobias.
3. I hate to shop. I do enjoy going to the mall with friends and looking at things, but shopping bores me to tears. Being a girl, it's weird, but I also am not a shoe fan. I hate shopping for shoes, and I have the bare minumum of them.
4. I sleepwalk and talk in my sleep. Half the time, I will walk out of my room and actually do something. Other times, my parents will come in and I will talk to them while I'm still asleep.
5. I make a wish when it is 11:11. I'm not superstitious, it just became a natural habit for me.

1. I am a left-handed only child.
2. I'm very afraid of bees/wasps and needles!
3. I freak out whenever I have to go to the doctor or get any kind of surgery---my blood pressure and heart rate goes up and sometimes I even cry (before a surgery).
4. I can be a perfectionist at times.
5. I hate any kind of condiments on sandwiches.

marissas said...

1. I am terribly afraid of needles, hospitals, doctors, and pretty much everything medical.
2. Like madisont, I feel dirty after being in public and touching things.
3. I have a phobia of oranges... Really wierd I know.
4. One of my favorite bands is the Jonas Brothers, which probably seems really dorky but I dont care.
5. I also live to impress people. I really care about others feelings and how I appear to them.

Whit in a Nutshell:

1. Even though I absolutely LOVE to act and sing and do it constantly, whenever I act or sing in front of people I get so nervous. Sometimes I even shake or feel like I am going to throw up.
2. I like being in control of situations, in groups I do much better as a leader than just another team member. This is partly due to the fact that I am a perfectionist. BUT DON’T WORRY! I have greatly improved on this skill=)
3. I am afraid of physical pain, but just the kind like needles, sever cuts, and surgeries. ahh! I cringe just thinking about it…
4. Although I love being around people, sometimes I just have to go to a quiet spot for a little and take a break. I really enjoy quiet, I can think more clearly.
5. I am allergic to laughing. If you start laughing, chances are that I will join you. I do not know why, but other people laughing makes me laugh ALL the time.

1. I have an avid fear of loud noises and the words "Exit" and "Emergency." The loud noise thing came from watching the imax sound preview and from a haunted house. I have no idea where the other two came from.

2. I can be described as highly competetive. When I was younger, I'd always cheat in video games against my brother and sister by taking their turn to play. Noweredays it's mainly exerted by my slug bug habbits; either that or get nailed 5 times due to the school year usuals

3. I hate the noise velcro makes when you separate it. It still rings in my ears today.

4. I've won a lot of awards over my lifetime. I won three pinewood dirby-esque awards, 1 highes math olympiad score thing, my high scoring on the ACT, etc.

5. I was often teased for hating summer vacation as a little kid. It's gone away as others grow more mature and I begin to like the break.

chelseas said...

1. I hate going to the doctor for fear that I will get sick-I am afraid that all of the little kids will sneeze on me and get me sick.
2. One of my pet peeves is the announcers on the radio, oddly enough. I find it very annoying when you want to listen to music and don’t have your iPOD or a C.D., and they just keep rambling on and on about something stupid.
3. I am a very competitive person, and I love competing against people while playing games, sports, or whatever else.
4. I have a very low pain tolerance, and the thought of surgeries or tons of blood almost makes me faint.
5. I don’t like to go outside at night to water the plants. I do not know why, but I always get the chills.

Laurenc said...

1. I absolutely love Japanese and Korean rock and pop. It's my favorite kind of music to listen to and I've even memorized a few songs though I only speak a few phrases in Japanese. I even have a Japanese ringtone, which is why I had to leave the first question on Tuesday's survey sheet blank.

2. I have a slight fish phobia. I think they are really creepy, especially the huge ones at the zoo. I don't like to eat fish either.

3. I play a lot of video games on the playstation 2 and Wii. Fantasy games are my favorite and I love the Final Fantasy series. I also play Guitar Hero =)

4. I still watch cartoons with my little brother and the kids I babysit and I admit that I love most kid shows.

5. I'm very interested in things like tarot readings, fortune telling, and the supernatural. I have my own tarot cards and put a lot of faith into what they predict.

you'd know that....

I'm afraid of failure

I am adopted

I don't know how to let things go

I hate the feeling of being alone more than anything

I wonder what people think of me.....all the time

How terrified I am that I am turning into the person I swore I'd never be

melissaz said...

First I have to say that I have really enjoyed getting to learn more about you guys! You are all very interesting people.

1. Well to start it off, I just found out last year that Melissaphobia means a fear of bees (because my name means honey bee), how crazy is that!?

2. I love kids, but not in a weird way. I think that they are so honest and have such big hearts and have such confidence to take on the world. I have some of the best stories from the kids I baby-sit.

3. I would rather have a handful of amazing, trust worthy friends than a huge group of ok people. I just believe in quality, not quantity. But I still enjoy other people's company.

4. I am really bad at making decisions. There is very, very little that I don't like in most every area and I tend to go with the flow. Every time I have to make a quick decision, I always seem to make the wrong choice; I have to think it out.

5. My dad is a doctor, my mom, a teacher (and I know some of you have even had my mom) and I have one brother at Powell Middle School.

Ryad said...

1. I am not afraid of doctors but I have despised them ever since I had the flu and one used a tongue depresser on me and I threw up all over myself and my mom who's lap I was sitting on.

2. I love big cities like L.A. and I'm afraid of being stuck in Centennial forever.

3. I know I'm talkative now but in elementary school you wouldn't have heard me say a word yet. When I had to get up infront of the class I would stutter and be really nervous.

4. I am the "big sister" of my friends. They mean the world to me and I am a good listener. I'm always willing to help them no matter what.

5. I am afraid of dinosaurs. When we went to the museum in pre-school they had to carry me through the dinosaur part because I flat out refused to go through. I will go through now but ver quickly.

delaney n said...

1.I think the word “stinky” is the ugliest word in the English language. Just then I had a hard time typing it.
2.I’m scared for my future. I have no idea what I want to do with my life and I don’t want to end up with nothing if I don’t think of something to do with it soon.
3.I’m afraid of my basement at night. I just know there is someone down there hiding in my laundry room ready to take me away.
4.When I get bored, I sit in my room for hours on end curling my hair and inventing new hairstyles (I never use any of these styles).
5.My dad gets on my case constantly about my house not being spotless. It really bothers me, and for a long time I was convinced I was just lazy. Now I realize the real reason I refuse to clean as much as he wants me to is because I am fighting back. I would love to have a spotless house, but I cannot let him win.

Kakos- I'm very sorry about your knee! And you are not a dork for reading instead of going out, I do it too!

1. My one true passion (besides learning) is dance, mainly ballet. I have been dancing since the age of two and do it 20 hours a week at least.

2. I find basically every teenager annoying and I don't really like being in the company of teenagers (which is odd since I deal with them every day). At parties, I tend to stay with the adults and chat with them about politics and stuff, and I actually enjoy it! But... I'm sure I will like all of you!

3. You'll find this out eventually, so I'll just say it now. I am a democrat who totally supports OBAMA and I am very intense in my opinions about politics, but I am really trying in High School to tone it down and be non-judgemental and open about others opinions. So please help me by telling me if I am being mean when discussing my opinions.

4. If I could graduate high school, dance professionally until I retired (probably at like 35), and then go to an amazing college and get a fantastic education with a degree in English, I would do it. But I'm doing college first then dance, because it is not a perfect world and that is the smart thing to do!

5. When I get depressed, this is what I do: First, I bake something. That always seems to help me (I have an apron fetish by the way). Second, I watch Gilmore Girls (I own all the seasons and usually watch one episode a night, it's sick). Third, I turn to my four best friends for support, I love them all (actually, I would probably do this first)!

roser said...

1. I love to watch the office and can quote at least a couple lines in every episode, every season.
2. I work at Subway, so of course I make people sandwiches, but I myself am pretty picky when it comes to food.
3. I read into things way too easily which can be a set up for trouble.
4. I love to have Yahtzee tournaments with my dad, and currently hold the Rapp record-593!
5. I have a huge appetite. I can down food so fast and in large quantities whenever and wherever.

1. I love to listen to music, it helps me concentrate better. I’m not really sure why because it’s pretty much just extra noise to concentrate on but it helps me remember things easier when I listen to music while doing something.
2. I absolutely love to be surrounded by people, I hate being alone. It’s so much more fun when there are people around me to socialize or ask questions or something. It’s like a security blanket for me having other people around.
3. I like to show off, a lot. Being the center of attention is so much fun for me. I love it. That kind of ties in with being surrounded by other people.
4. I really care about others, I love being there for other people and giving them advice and stuff. It makes me feel good just knowing I can help someone out.
5. I love to listen to really loud music and dance by myself while doing something. Like when I’m doing my homework after school, I usually turn on some techno or screamo music up loud, and go about my business while listening to it and dancing to it. It pumps me up. Usually my music depends on my mood though.

mollyd said...

1. I love watching game shows. I don’t really know why but I find them very interesting. I really like Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud.
2. I hate sleeping with my window open at night. I don’t like hearing the noises and I think a person or a cat might break through the screen.
3. Bees scare me really bad. I have never been stung before and I hope to never be stung. Whenever I see a bee I run away and keep running until it is gone.
4. I love to cook. I like to make good food and make people happy when they eat it. I most enjoy baking and making desserts. I also love to eat the left over cookie dough and cake batter!
5. In the next few years I would really like to go to Africa and do some mission work there. I love to volunteer and I can’t stand how many people there are in the world suffering and I would really like to help them. Also my family and I sponsor two kids. A 15 year old girl in Colombia and a 4 year old girl in Uganda. We allow them to go to school and meet their daily needs. I am able to write letters with them and I would really love to go and visit them some day.

1)I am afraid of people touching the underside of my wrists. I just am afraid they'll get cut and start to bleed.
2)My competitiveness sometimes takes over my ability to do things I like and I ALWAYS get down on myself for making mistakes.
3)I LOVE carrot cake. No joke. I would seriously eat a whole one by myself.
4)I would sacrifice comfort on the altar of cool shoes when it comes to wearing high heels. I don't know, I just love to wear super high ones!
5)I hate it when people don't care about something or don't try. Like in a sport or class. I might care a little too much, but at least I have passion for whatever I'm doing.
That was heavy...sorry!

1. I am obsessed with Mitchel Musso. Ask any of my friends, it's really quite riduculous. My friend and I even made a bunch of YouTube videos this summer trying to convince Ellen Degeneres to have him as a guest on her show... all 14 of Mitchel's fans thought it was cool...

2. I throw up a lot, not intentionally or anything, it just happens. Sorry Mrs. Leclaire...

3. I HATE the feeling of being stuck, and having to rely on other people to get me out of whatever I have dug myself into.

4. I love love love clothes, but I hate phrasing it like that because people always assume that I am shallow!

5. All of my best friends go to different schools, and so I hate going back to school knowing that I don't get to see them everyday anymore.

EmilyJ said...

1. I am self-motivated, so I do better practicing sports by myself than with my team. I am more encouraged to work harder from myself than anyone else, which is unusual.
2. My freshman year at my former school did not go over well at all, and I was really afraid to come to Arapahoe and start over new. But it's looking like it will be a good year!
3. I lived in Holland for two years when I was in first and second grade and I loved it so much more than I like living here in the U.S.A. Life is so much more simple over there!
4. I am so afraid of being alone when everyone else around me is not.
5. I have a horse named Justin and I ride him almost every day. He is basically my life and I love him to death. :)

Oliviak said...

1) I am a scuba diver.
2) Unlike most teenagers I can’t sleep in past 9 o’clock. My body just will not let me.
3) Madison you’re not alone when it comes to talking in my sleep I also have been known to do that.
4) I can kind of be like Mrs. Leclaire when it comes to board games. I have to win or I get mad but I have gotten a lot better at losing.
5) I am really good at Mario kart racing on the Wii.

jordans said...

1. I get really annoyed really easily. I have an endless list of pet peeves. I didn’t always used to be like this but last year something must have happened because sometimes I get so mad and irritated I get migraines and hives. I really want to work on fixing this, this year because it’s made me not as nice as I should be sometimes and it’s just kind of bizarre.
2. I’m a really athletic person and I have a stress fracture so I’m in a boot for three to six months and so far it’s been three weeks and I hate it. I was signed up for cross country but now I’m just the manager, watching people run everyday is a lot harder than I thought. Sometimes people complain and take it for granted and I would give anything to trade them because there’s a chance my leg will never heal and I won’t ever run again. I’m hoping this isn’t the case because endorphins do wonders for my mood! I’m on swim team and will swim no matter what because of my parents but I also really love it.
3. I love my friends above all else. I love helping them and I’m mortified to have my phone off when I sleep because I’m afraid they may need me when I’m sleeping. Even people I don’t know I love helping them and giving them advice. My best friend’s name is Hayley and I would do anything for her.
4. Buffy The Vampire Slayer is my favorite show ever! i'm obsessed with it.
5. I love lyrics and quotes. I spend a lot of my free time looking them up. I love country music and Taylor Swift. Every time I hear something that I think is a good quote I text them to my best friend and vice versa.

1. I have a fear of surgery, even though I have had it before and turned out fine. It is mostly just when people talk about getting it done. This probably is not good since i want to be a doctor someday(which might not work out).
2. I run cross country, even though I hate it at practice since I haven't run in awhile. I guess its good though since it keeps me busy and in shape!
3. This is my first time being at a public school in my whole life. I like it a lot better already then private school.
4. I love to travel. I have been to Europe three times, the Bahamas twice, and other states. So far, my favorite place is Italy.
5. After school I always have to watch TV to see whats new. I guess I consider it as my break for the day.

I hope I don't embarrass myself (or at least badly), but here it goes...

1. I really don't like it when people play with my hair, or the wind blows it around. I'm not sure why, but I just don't like it.

2. There are times when I get freezing cold for no particular reason, and my hands turn purple. Apparently, my hands "feel like ice" when they don't feel that cold to me. They must be really cold when I think my hands are cold...

3. When I was pretty young, like five or six to maybe a bit older, I hated doughnuts, cake, and any sort of pastry. I have since grown out of that, and now I love doughnuts and pastries. I still don't like cake as much as most people, but its not bad.

4. I absolutely HATE bugs, viruses, and allergies. Plain and simple.

5. I have some tennis shoes that I've worn through so badly that the end of the shoe has come unstitched, and the shoelace has broken. This isn't my parents' fault! They've offered to get me new shoes, but I like these ones, and I want to hold onto them for as long as possible. I almost take pride in how beat up these shoes are (it proves I've worked hard at tennis, I guess).

1) I love to read. No, it's not just love, its verging on becoming an addiction. Yes, I am serious about this. I read in almost all of my free time and I read anything from Jane Austin to manga. Fantasy novels especially. It's really quite ridiculous how addicted I am to reading.

2) I am extremely opinionated, argumentative, and impatient. I am also very cynical. In fact, my parents often tell me that I am to young to believe that the entire population is either ignorant or apathetic or both. But I do. I will always discuss my views on things and often get in trouble for speaking my mind instead of holding my tongue.(I am trying to correct this however)

3) I am afraid of dentists, orthodontists, and oral surgeons. Any other kind of doctor I'm fine with. I could care less about needles or surgeries. Just as long as they don't include my mouth.

4) I horse-back ride and I sing. I list these two together because for some reason, in my mind, they just fit. Don't ask me how, don't ask me why, because I don't know. I love horses and pretty much anything horsey-related. Singing is just generally awesome.

5) Change and spontaneity scare me. I am scared of not being able to control what happens to me and that I won't turn into the person I want to be.

alexf said...

1. I am allergic to mango sap! I know, most people are just allergic to the actual fruit, but I can eat them, I just can’t touch them!

2. For some reason I am always in front of the TV on Tuesday nights. I say this because I can’t seem to help but watch The Secret Life of the American Teenager. Now, if you’ve ever seen this show, you probably know that it’s the kind of immature and has really bad acting… however; I can’t stand not watching it! Who knew?!

3. Over the past two weeks or so I have been addicted to the “Twilight” series! It isn’t the best writing ever, yet I really love the books! Whenever I’m not doing something, I am probably reading one of the four books!

4. Although I wear “normal” clothes to school, once I get home I immediately change into sweats. They are just so much more comfortable for me and I never really wear “real” clothes unless I’m at school or going out somewhere. So ultimately, if you ever see me outside of AHS, I’ll be in sweats!

5. If no one ever noticed, whenever I stand up I immediately black out for about five or ten seconds. I can be sitting down for five minutes, stand up, and then suddenly I can’t see! I can’t even go on roller coasters because when the car flips upside down, I also blackout! (I still go on them though!) It’s horrible, but I can’t do anything about it.

1. I really like chocolate milk. I hate white milk and it always makes me feel like im going to throw up but add a little chocolate and everythings alright.
2. Every morning I pick a color and it’s the only color I notice all day. If you’re wearing a shirt that color ill say I like it and ill try to eat it for lunch. I have no idea when this started and I don’t have any idea why I do it. Sometimes I don’t even realize I am doing it till half way through the day.
3. I like… sports, purple, reading (as long as I pick the book; I don’t like assigned reading), music (I LOVE music), just relaxing, hanging with friends, traveling- especially planes and road trips, shopping, night time.
4. I hate… being alone, not having control of things, drama (not the class, the nasty behavior some girls seem to live off of), curfew, dirty snow.
5. I have one little brother who is in 8th grade, two cats, and a dog.

MattN said...

1. I am actually going to miss my brother a lot once he leaves for college, even though at this exact moment he is being really annoying and has the attention span of a squirrel.
2. I was a Varsity Swimmer and Tennis Player my freshman year. I love sports.
3. I love animals and want to be a Veterinarian when I'm older.
4. I can't stand sitting at home and doing nothing, I'd rather be out and about doing something with my friends or family.
5. For the past 4 years English has been my least favorite class, even though last year Mrs. Moritz was my favorite teacher and I like reading.

1. I'm overly obsessed with ice cream, Belle the princess, country music, and care bears that it's embarrassing to tell! I loved streaking when I was younger too.

3. Most people think lyrical dance is stupid because it contains ballet, but actually lyrical and hip-hop are my favorite types of dance. Many people may not know this but I can get down and work it out!
4. I'm deathly afraid of fireworks! I hate Fourth of July!
5. My "six sisters" are my lovers! They're the only ones I can be my true self around and I love it! We all do the most retarded things that no one else would understand! That's what knowing each other since you were two will give ya!

1. I am a competitive skiier and last year I broke my arm doing just that!
2. I went skiing 28 times last year!
3. I have a pet peeve of light switches going the wrong way. If there are two side by side and one is up but the other isn't, I go and make them all go the same way . . . I know, kinda strange . . .
4. I talk in my sleep, and one time my mom told me I yelled "Help! Open the door! They're after me!" She came running in just to find out that I was fast asleep!
And last but not least . . .
5. I am really involved in my youth group at my church. Alot of people think that church is boring, but I always have a great time, and I get to see some of my best friends that I have known since preschool.

Well have a great day!

1. I have a personal space problem with people I don't like or that I find annoying. I know this is a weird thing to say first, but I'm all about honesty. That serves to be a problem as well.
2. I get really distracted really easily, all it takes is one comment and I have to say something about it. I like talking.
3.I'm not afriad to meet new people. I also love to wave at people. I'm outgoing and loud-you could say this.
4. I was terrified of high school last year and now I love it. I've made a lot of new friends and I think coming here boosted my confidence alot.
5. I play lacrosse and I'm pretty determined to be on varsity this year. I absolutely love playing, its definitely a part of who I am.

DelaneyN- I do the same thing with my mom that you do with your dad. My mom always gets mad at me for fighting with her in public and everytime she tells me not to make a scene, I do. Not because I want to, but because I feel like getting back at her for yelling at me before I did anything.

Laurenc said...

ryad - I'm exactly the same way as you when it comes to dinosaurs. I hate that part of the museum that has them all on display. People always asked me why I was afraid of something extinct and I could never really give them an answer. They're just scary!!

Macm- I did not know that about your wrists! That is odd but really interesting.

One general question: What is everyone's favorite book?

hannahl---You're definitely not alone in wanting to stay with the adults and discuss "serious" stuff at parties. Madison!!! I didn't know you made a wish at 11:11 every night...maybe that's why you're always so tired in the morning..... Anyway I can't believe I didn't know that! I live with you for heaven's sake! :]

roser said...

Wow EmilyJ,I don't know if you know this but I'm allergic to horses...Kate can atest...but trust me if I weren't I would for sure gallup on Justin.

MorganW-All three long years I had braces I would have totally agreed that I despise the ortho and dentist appointments.

MacM-I kind of get creeped out by the undersides of my wrists too just because of how thin they are, and the popping out vains.

Ryad said...

Lauren: People have always made fun of me too. My cousins were teasing me this summer because I closed my eyes on the Journy to the Center of the Earth ride at Water World.

meganu said...

Just like amyw and marissas and probably other people, I absolutely HATE needles! I'm fine with them until they get close to the insides of my elbows or something like that.

Kristin L said...

Liz--I'm terrified of clowns, too. Nothing funny about them--only horrifying.
Morgan--I like to think that I have a high tolerance for pain, but I'm actually kind of a wimp. When I have dental work done, they have to use extra anesthesia.
Madison--I'm addicted to scary things even though they give me nightmares and make afraid to be alone.
Amy--No condiments at all? Not even ketchup?
Marissa--I use antibacterial gel at least 3 times a day.

To be continued...

Alex,
I know I love secret life of an american teenager! I am a little behind and I'm currently catching up on line. I dont get why cause it is really cheesy and has terrible acting but... gotta love it!

MollyS said...

KennaW- My parents dropped my brother off at college the day before yesterday and I was a wreck all day! That empty room thing does the same thing to me, when I look in there I just want to cry!

JordanS- I get annoyed so easily as well! If I am in that mood then I can find things to set me off in anything! It stinks huh?

AlexF- I am the complete opposite, I am always 'dressing' for occasions and always end up overdressed! Embarrassing right???

AmyW- I hate going to new sandwich places because I don't know what they put on them, so I always end up having to pick things off my food if I do. It's so stressful!

WhitneyS- I have the worst stage fright too! But that just adds to the adrenaline rush of theatre huh?

morganw said...

Hannahl - My favorite book, well, I don't have one. I have lots. To name a few, Macbeth, Pride and Prejudice, The Once and Future King, and Abarat.

Unknown said...

emilyj- no way you did not live in Holland! I am so jelous becuase I was actually born there. My mom never taught me the language and that was pretty upsetting. I went back there this summer to visit and I loved it so much more than here. Hopefully I will learn the language some day and then go back to live there!

macm said...

Hannahl-
Yeah, it didn't really bother me until I found out about one of my friends cutting. Now if anything gets close I freak. Like the one lab where we had to take our own pulse? Not good!

Maddie T. said...

Morgan- Of course you didn't know. It's something I don't ususally share with people. XP

EmilyJ said...

hannahl- yes I know Lauren Rahe and I absolutely love her!!! She was one of my really good friends!! How do you know her? And when I lived in Holland it was required to take Dutch at my school so I actually learned a lot but I don't remember much of it! :) I'm very forgetful

hannahl said...

amyw- Yes, I know how you feel. I hate it when young people aren't involved in politics just because they aren't old enough to vote. They just don't get that it is still their country!

Whitneys- Ya, I am a crazy freak about dancing. I now dance at the International Ballet School which I just started at this year. It is a small place but is really advanced and challenging. I go there right after school and have class from 3-5:30 on weekdays, it's crazy. And, I dance from 4-9 on Fridays, so much for a social life!

Anonymous said...

macm ~ I am totally with you on the hating when people don't care! It just bugs you that they aren't putting in the amount of effort needed to be the BEST EVER!!

MattN said...

Melissa Z- thats cool your name means honey bee but i totally have melissaphobia...not the honey bee kinda...haha just kiding

AustinD said...

I'm really like a lot of you here. I prefer hanging with the adults (maybe since I have really young siblings), fears of spiders, wasps (I got stung this summer and it dosen't feel that bad), etc.

jordans said...

To anyone who doesn't like needles or surgery I know what you mean. They make me faint and feel relly dizzy! This is bad news because apparently you disect things in biology.

hannahl: my favorite book is the Twilight series. I love them all!

amyw said...

morganw---I can be very cynical as well! I only show this side of myself when you get to know me though. Most people who only know me a little will tell you how nice I am, and this is true, but I do have a cynical side!

alexf said...

Macm- No I'm on the 3rd book...the second one was kind of lame so I hope they get better! And I haven't read the 4th, so don't give it away please! :D

Ryad said...

Hannah- I've read so many that I honestly can't choose! I'm up to 72 in the last year!

I can see a lot of people have a phobia of the hospital things/surgery so that makes me feel a lot better about my fear!

madisont- I sleep walk too! I have been doing it a lot lately. The worst thing I have done is walked out of my hotel room in Las Vegas.

hannahl said...

Emilyj- I've known Lauren Rahe since like fifth grade I think. Her, I, and three other girls are really close and I was sad to see her not come to AHS, but we stuck together anyways.

@Molly-That is so cool that you and your family sponsor those kids. I bet that it is fun to write to them!

roser said...

Katep-thats weird that you have a fear of surgery knowing Mike is indeed a doc...well I guess that needle my dad used to get the splinter out of Jon's foot ha.

Maddie T. said...

macm- I have the same problem. I've had three people I knew who cut, so it really freaks me out. I'm always trying to be careful with my wrists and it's just...a weird feeling haha.

mollyd said...

Alex f- I also really like sweats. Whenever I go home I immediately change into sweats. I absolutely love them and I could totally live in them all the time.

macm said...

alexf- I agree that the writing isn't that great. I don't know what it is about those books!

whitneys- That's why I always have trouble with group projects!

kennaw said...

But, yeah I just took a class last night that was lyrical it was fun. I take at Starstruck Dance Academy if you're ever looking for a studio to take some good classes at.
madisont~ my favorite action films are the Day After Tomorrow and Wanted. I really want to see Death Race that's coming out but it's rated R unfortunately! maybe I'll get my dad to take me somehow ;)

Unknown said...

MorganW- I understand what you mean when you say you are cynical. I myself am very negative and cynical. Sometimes it may not seem like that, but deep down I'm always thinking with the glass half empty!

Anonymous said...

jordans - I am So sorry about your leg. It's never fun when youb have to watch people doing something that you love. I HOPE IT HEALS!!

emilyj- I totally need to go ride your horse haha. I'm obsessed with them, but I can never get a chance to.

morgant- I also a afraid of failure and HATE letting people down

jordans said...

Mollyd: I love sweats! I will most likely never wear anything but running shorts and athletic shirts to anywhere i go. I'm just not a girly girl and can't pull off any other look plus they are so comfortable!

mollys ~ OH YEAH!! no nerves, no energy usually:)

Maddie T. said...

kennaw- I wanted to see Death Race really badly too, but I know it's R, so I'm not sure I could be able to see it. Grrrr.

mattn- I would hope you agree, considering you are a guy, but I know the feeling haha. I would go shopping for something, and about ten minutes into it, I'm ready to go do something else.

KiraW said...

WOW!You are all such cool people with interesting lives! Hey Lauren, I'm kinda creeped out my fish too! they way that they just look at you and flip their fins, CREEPEY!

Unknown said...

Marissa- oh, yes! I am so afraid of failure. I just want to have opportunities when I'm older, and when I fail a test or something, it's practically the end of the world at that moment.

Unknown said...

marissas- It's kinda funny about my whole clown phobia because my grandpa works as a clown sometimes! Also, have you ever seen the Polar Express? I hate the scene in that when the kid goes into that one car with all the puppets! It is soooo scary!!!!

3. I have five brothers and even more amazing they are all nice.
4. I am increddibly stubborn and hate to be outdone.
5. I love watcing sports but am terrified of messing up so I hardly ever play. (once I was at a family reunion and we were playing ultimate frisbee and I ran to the touch down spot and it was the winning point and so I was screaming don’t pass to me over and over again and I waqs shaking and FREAKING out… they didn’t pass to me. I was so relieved)

Unknown said...

Mac- oh yes, sarcasm is wonderful!

Kenna- Disney princesses are awesome! I also love Meg from Hercules! She is someone who can take care of herself!!

melissaz said...

Kenna- I ABSOLUTLY LOVE My Sister's Keeper!!! It is one of the best books ever! Yay!

melissaz said...

All right! Well I would guess that some of you won't be looking back at this ever again, but I still wanted to write a little about everyone. I think that everyone in this class has amazing things to offer and I would like you all to see how I am genuinely interested in who you are and what you are about. I love to learn about other people and get a glimpse into their life, so here it goes!

Liz- My brother has the same hair phobia. I have always had long hair so luckily it doesn't really bother me at all.

Morgan-I think that is so cool that you were adopted! Did you enjoy meeting your birth mother?

Madison-I agree, public places can be rather gross when you really take the time to think about it, but luckily I don't think about it too much.

Amy-I bet it is hard to get so nervous to go to the doctor, was there ever an event that sparked it?

Whitney-I can totally see you as a leader and you do it SO well; I like when people aren't afraid to take control!

Austin- That’s so interesting how you didn't like summer vacation before; why was that?

Chelsea- Wow, it's amazing how many competitive people are in this class! And it does bother me to when announcers or radio personalities seem to talk forever on a subject that really doesn't matter.

Lauren- You have some very cool and unique interests, that is awesome!

Sabrina- Don't worry, you are a very sweet individual :)

Rya- I think that is wonderful you want to be a part of a big city, and I can totally see you there some time.

Delaney- I had never thought about it but that word does sound kind of harsh and just plain weird. Luckily I don't really use it that often!

Hannah- I can see what you mean about teenagers; there are certain teenage qualities that drive me crazy. I also get along with parents oddly well! And I come home every day and watch Gilmore Girls on ABC Family :)

Rose- I hope I get to see you at Subway some time. And you are a pretty picky eater, I have found that out!

Megan- You do love music, and being the center of attention, but I think that can be an awesome thing!

Mollyd-Well than, you have Melissaphobia, a fear of bees! That is very amazing that you want to visit Africa and do that mission work; I would love to visit Africa as well.

Mac- I have a similar fear that the bottom of my wrists will bleed uncontrollably. That area just seems so fragile!

Mollys- I also love clothes! And where did your obsession with Mitchel Musso come from?

Emily- I'm sorry to hear your experience before wasn't the best, but now you can hopefully learn from it and have an amazing time at Arapahoe.

Olivia- I think that is such an accomplishment that you have become a scuba diver!

Jordan- I am very sorry to hear about your knee and I hope it gets better soon. And I also agree, I always want to be there for my friends and make myself available.

Kate- Will I think that is very cool how you want to become a doctor (maybe)! Me too (among other things). What kind of doctor would you like to be?

Parker- I think that is awesome you still have those tennis shoes, and worn/older things have so much character.

Morgan- Sadly I am not the best at reading regularly, but I think that is amazing that you have such a love! Are there any books you highly recommend?

Alex- Well, I love sweat pants too. They are just so comfortable and seem to almost make everything better :)

Karly- I love how you spell your name. Well I'm sorry but I love white milk, maybe chocolate every once in a while. But what ever floats your boat, that's great.

Matt- Well I think that's great you and your brother have such a great relationship. And that is incredible you want to become a veterinarian!

Kenna- One thing I have to say, I have always loved your name! I think it is so cool that you dance as often as you do, like Hannah, and I already know you are amazing.

Kira- You are a crazy skier and that is great you are so into your church; that is important.

Shannan- Well I can understand your personal space issue. I can become like that sometimes.

And last but not least...Mrs. Leclaire- I bet surgery was a big deal, and I can totally understand why you are still in pain. Don't worry, I bet people wouldn't even think of you as a whiner :)

Well that was a long message; I hope I got everyone!

Whitney--I am also a bit of a control freak. I'm getting better, but I definitely like to be the leader of any community I'm part of.
Austin--Do fire and lockdown drills make you anxious because of your phobia of "exit" and "emergency"? I find that kind of fascinating.
Chelsea--I love your #5; I feel the same way about going into basements.
Lauren--Seeing fish in tanks always make me quite sad. I think it's because the fish look sad.
Sabrina--You are a perfectionist. There's nothing wrong with that. But you should know how much other people admire you.
Melissa--Thanks for commenting on everyone--that was amazing! I feel the same way about children; they give you whole new little window into the world that you thought you already knew.
Rya--Did you see Jurassic Park? If you haven't seen it, I'd stay away from it.
Delaney--My dad and I have had some similar, passive-aggressive battles.

To be continued...

Kristin L said...

Hannah--Thanks for the comforting comments! Also, I used to dance ballet and I still love watching it.
Rose--Which Subway? I probably eat there once a week.
Megan--I too need music/background noise; I can't work in a silent environment.
Molly--Two of my best friends spent a year in Africa volunteering at a local hospital, and it transformed their lives.
Mac--In response to your #4, I often decide first which shoes I want to wear; then I pick out the rest of my outfit based on the shoes. I think it's because I had to wear a uniform 5th-12th grade, and I was forced to wear pennyloafers every single day.
Molly--It's not that I don't like people who throw up, I just don't like to watch it happen.
Emily--Do you ever go back to Holland? I've always wanted to travel there. I'm sorry that you had a rough freshman year--hopefully you'll find Arapahoe more welcoming.

To be continued...

Kristin L said...

Olivia--Where is your favorite scuba diving spot? I love the Caymans, and my dream is to scuba dive with great whites off the Great Barrier Reef.
Jordan--As for your #2, I understand how you feel. Not being able to play volleyball for 9 months (while I watch everyone around me play volleyball every day) is making me feel like I'm missing a piece of myself.
Kate--Where in Italy? I love to travel as well. My favorite place so far is Munich.
Parker (aka, Hogan)--My husband is the same way when it comes to both hair (don't touch it) and cake (don't eat it).
Morgan--We do some creative projects for class; if you feel comfortable singing in front of the class, we'd love to hear you. Just something to think about.

To be continued...

Kristin L said...

Alex--I feel like you should have your #5 checked out (it scares me).
Karly--What you said about color is fascinating! Does it hold true every day?
Matt--Your #1 made me laugh, and I hope that English is not one of your least favorite classes this year.

To be continued...

No I haven't seen Jurassic Park. My dad keeps trying to make me watch it and my cousin tries to get me to go on the ride every time I am at Universal Studios with him. I had a nightmare when I was really little that a T-Rex was in the mall and ate my dad. That's why I'm scared of them.

Unknown said...

Melissa- well, I'm sure I enjoyed meeting her, but I was REALLY little at the time, and don't remember her at all! :] But, that's okay!
